I liked the story I did have concerns that it was very reminiscent of the tortoise and the hare but I liked the way you developed the story from the point of Nurdle helping his friend Hop when he got hurt. Good story nice read.

Thank you for your comment! Yes, we did go back and forth when thinking about the reference to the tortoise and the hare but decided it would work well in this story because of the age group it's targeted to. We felt that kids like things they recognize and are familiar with and that it would bring a stronger meaning to the story because kids can relate and understand at a deeper level. We hope we get our message across and the story instills some valuable lessons about the harm litter can cause! Thank you for checking the book out!

Hey Rochelle and Mike!
So I don't have kids as you know, but I have read many a bedtime story to my niece and nephews! I love love love the story, and the illustrations. For me, when I read to my niece I love to do the voices of the characters, and that's what they love the most too. After reading through your wonderful story I noticed that there are only some very small parts closer to the beginning where there are "voices", or areas of speech. My suggestion would be to include more speech. Like the part where Nurdle gets her foot caught and she's struggling, things like "Help! Help! I'm caught!", or where Dr Owl is telling Nurdle she will need surgery, and then post surgery. They are great opportunities for some great "voices". I hope this is making sense! Nurdle is so cute, and I can't wait to buy the book for my niece and nephews! You guys are amazing!
