Rotary Beach in Wellington was really windy so we just took ziplock bags to fill instead of fighting with a full sized garbage bag. We filled four, which isn't a lot of litter but it's the best we could do since the wind is a litter picker's worst enemy. Centennial Park in Bath is a cute little spot. We found mostly snack wrappers and cigarette butts. It's unfortunate to find cigarette butts so close to a children's play area. Amherstview was full of lots of curious seagulls. Seagulls that like to dig in to big juicy garbage cans. We could tell that animals had been into the cans because some of the things we picked up had bite marks on them. If a garbage can doesn't close completely the best thing to do is take your garbage home with you. Litter in the parks isn't always tossed by humans, animals play a big role in leaving a big mess behind, and this can be very hazardous to the health and livelihood of animals.

The biggest issue in all these areas was, you guessed it, cigarette butts. This project has opened our eyes even wider to this topic. Something needs to be done.
